The famed bread slicer. Nothing to see here. Move along.



The bread slicer in repose. Note the brilliant 1970s colour. We also have a tin-opener from a totally different manufacturer in exactly that colour.



Apparently, it can also be made to slice cheese, salami and other cold cuts as well as vegetables. I think my grandmother only ever used it for bread because after slicing any of the other things, the slicer had to be taken apart for thorough cleaning, whereas after slicing bread one just kind of dusts off the crumbs.



The scary side.



I didnĀ“t have a loaf of bread, so I got the poor slicer all excited after at least two decades of no action and then faked the slicing with some pre-sliced bread. I might have to buy a loaf sometime soon to make it up to it.
