Yesterday was my husband's birthday, so as a present for Tania and me him, we went to see both films back to back.

It was soo worth it. If you get the chance to do that, I highly recommend it. The two parts really merged into one for me.

I am still a bit woozy because we came home at 3 am and the baby is fussy, so I will keep this short.

I was extremely worried about the 3D bit in DH2 but was pleasantly surprised. It was much more subtle than I had expected and I didn't leave with a headache.

Love, love, love the imagery! Overall love the entire film very, very much.

There was a particular line from McGonagoll that had the audience cheering and clapping. You will know what I mean when you watch it.

I cried pretty much non stop from the moment I realised that Voldemort was about to kill Snape.

That particular scene was so tender and beautiful that I could practically see the Snarry icons and fanvids materialise in my mind. I will never, ever forgive J.K. Rowling for killing him. Never.

BUT: The film agrees with my interpretation of the Malfoy family! I must say, I was chuffed to bits when we came to that part.

It became really clear that whichever little boy Voldemort would have chosen to mark, he was done for. Neville would have been a Chosen One just as worthy as Harry. Much Neville-love!

I had hopes for the epilogue but I must say it was just as atrocious as it was in the book. Harry was okay-ish but the entire audience groaned at the dialogue with his son. Hermione and Ginny look old, boring and frumpy/suffering from helmet hair and Ron seems to have done little more than sit around and drink beer for the last 19 years. Gah. I didn't even get a look at Scorpius because it was over so quickly and I was trying to get over Draco's look. Make-up artists what have you done?? All in all I didn't really find the scene convincing. It might be because these are very young adults trying to portray parents sending off their children for months(!) but have clearly no clue what that does to a parent.

I could have really done with simply doing away with that thing called epilogue.

DH2 is a worthy end to the saga and having seen it I feel actually much better now. One part of the journey is over but that does not mean that the road ends here.
