It takes two to tango

I've just come home from two days of intensive Argentine Tango workshop.
It was awesome!
I dug out my dance shoes - couldn't find the roughener for the soles, but it was all right - and had a severe case of nerves just before I had to leave the house.
I haven't danced in about two years and the last time I seriously did any sort of couple dance was before Tania was born!
My feets hurts.
It was a very interesting lesson in patience and reliquishing control. Being open to your partners signals, waiting for said signals and not pushing and pulling impatiently...
Yeah.
Once I had myself convinced that I did not know better, that the situation would not improve because I thought I had found the perfect time to start moving, it was a revelation!
I am so used to having a choreography and being centre stage while dancing that not knowing which step or variation would come next AND not being the one who gets to decide is terrbly exciting.
After two days we can get through a dance without making complete fools of ourselves and can even do some of the things that make me oooh! and aaah! when watching Argentine Tango. Nothing too fancy, mind, but I am quite happy with myself :)
