Happy Easter - Frohe Ostern !

I found this little something in the nearest supermarket. I was a bit wary because of its, um, rather bright colours, but hey, it's Easter and don't we all feel colourful? I was lured into buying it, as it was sporting the German name of Prince Philip's family before they ran off moved to the UK.

Battenberg.

It was just sickly sweet with more sickly sweet on top without any other distinct flavour to it and the texture of it just made me spit it out immediately - some parts too soft and others kind of grainy.

It was a bit like packed cotton candy with some kind of syrupy thing gluing the parts together and the outer layer was some sort of grainy, super-sweet something. No flavour besides "sweet" whatsoever!

Lemon would have been nice...

I love all that nougaty stuff like Ferrero Rocher or Belgian seafood that is so horrible for the waistline. And then of course all things peanut/chocolate and Mars Almond mmmmhh!
