lady_of_clunn: (Mabon in Darkness bind them)

Sign up's are open at [livejournal.com profile] hgbigbang and since I said I don't want to participate in any fests anymore, it is only logical that I signed up. I hope this will force me to finish my really long and really neglected HG/SS fic. ETA: To see where I am standing (I hadn't looked at this story in nearly two years!) I combined all my chapter files into one big file. This could actually work, at least I won't have any problems with the minimum wordcount, as I am already at 29k :)

Surprisingly *cough* this little fic is dark. Yes. I know. Who would have thought.

Not many terrible things happen but it might make you think of terrible things. Coming to think of it, there are terrible things happening but they are not described in detail. *goes back to check details* Well, that might also depend on your definition of terrible...

And there is main character death.

I know how I personally try to avoid stories in which my favourite characters die, so I understand if this is not your cup of tea.

It's only about 1700 words.

Pwease?

ETA: Found! Thank you! :)

Lately I can do not much more than lounging on the sofa with loads of pillows to prop me up (to prevent heartburn), lots of pillows under my feet (to prevent swollen ankles) and my eReader propped up on my chest (to prevent going insane).

So I've been looking for long and completed fics to read and found something I thought did not exist:

A MLC fic that I hadn't read yet.

AND it is completely different from any other MLC story I have read so far. It really takes the challenge, turns it upside down and makes it something unbelievably original.

All the way through it was a thoroughly enjoyable read. The author did state that there will not be a happy ending as such and I am okay with that.

Only when I read the very last sentence, I completely lost it and broke down.

Repeatedly.

I haven't been shaken like that by a story in years.

The experience might be different for somebody who is not as hormone-ridden as I am at the moment but hormones or no hormones, I think it is VERY much worth reading.

Chaos is Come Again by theatresm

Summary: The Obligatory Warning and Cautions: Hermione/Snape; NC-17 warning for occasional graphic sex, frequent vulgarity, and dubious consent. (See footnotes on that last.) Chaos has been cited as a response to the WIKTT Marriage Challenge, but is not: it's more a reaction to many of the rosier and more unrealistic stories that challenge produced. It was also written not long after the invasion of Iraq and institution of the Patriot Act -- not to mention during the prison abuse scandals of Spring 2004 -- and is chock full of political frustration, and examination of and commentary on those matters as well as more general Social issues such as Reproductive Rights and Marriage. Therefore, caveat lector: if you like Romance and more escapist fare, this is probably far too gritty for your taste.
