1. Magazines subscribed to: None. I used to have a few subscriptions, but naturally cancelled everything before leaving Germany. When I am at my parent's house, I take full advantage of THEIR subscriptions to "Der Spiegel" and "Das Haus" and have done so for the last 20 years. Thinking about getting a weekend subscription to "The Guardian" but have to survey the UK a bit longer.
2. Aside from reading, my favorite pasttimes are: Any (or nearly any) kind of dance, Bollywood Dance in particular, skiing, heraldics (yes I might do a coat of arms for you if asked), translating and now also writing fanfiction *shifty eyes*, Cooking, sewing period clothing, and I am seriously toying with the idea of taking up horseback riding again.
3. If I were not a customer service administrator, I would be: slaving away in a hotel, Embassy or some office. I'd love to be an anthropologist. When I was in elementary school, we had those little books for our friends to fill in. In second grade I wrote that I want to be an archeologist. Sometimes first ideas ARE really best. *sigh*
4. I am irrationally worried about: Nothing I can think of - or all I can think of? Worry always seems so rational at the time...
5. If I were the opposite sex: I'd run screaming?
6. The thing I miss most about childhood is: The huge family, held together tightly by my grandmother.
7. I like to collect:
8. Though I’ve never been there, I feel inexplicably homesick for: East Prussia. My family left in the late 1800's for the more exciting Berlin and was not chased out after WWII, I am not some homesick nationalist dressing up in obsolete folklore dress , demanding reunification with "lost" territory. But when I hear stories about the area or watch documentaries, I really, really want to go and visit, see the places where my great-great-great-great-great-grandparents have lived and then go back home. With lots of pictures. :)
9. I’ve never really liked to eat: Olives. Otherwise not picky. I even tried "Takka-tak" in Pakistan. Good thing they told me what it was made of AFTER eating.
10. When I have nightmares, they’re usually about: I don't have many. My absolutely worst nightmare was: I woke up in our dark bedroom and I could see the shadow of a gigantic spider (baby-forbidden-forest-spider-dimensions) slowly coming down from my four poster bed, descending towards me with sqirming, hairy legs. I screamed. And woke up. In my dark bedroom. And screamed some more. I woke my daughter through two closed doors and made her start screaming as well and the neighbours above us, who nearly called the police.
