Don't scoff at me. It's tradition.

Eurovision Song Contest and popcorn.

So far it's been quite rubbish, but that's the whole point, right? Watching those awful performances, thinking "Why in the world would a nation send them to represent their country??"

I think I only voted twice in the last seven years and only because the songs were outstanding and I really wanted them to win. And they did. On both occassions.

Although it is only fair that every European country may send their representatives, I find it a bit annoying that since all these tiny new European countries are entering - and voting for each other- the "old" Eurovision countries like France, Germany and England hardly stand a chance. no matter how good we are.

Edit:

I think I liked Armenia best, so far. Their song actually made me get up from the couch and remember my belly dance skills. And their take on the traditional Armenian dress was quite beautiful.

2. edit:

I just saw Germany's song, a sort of modern take on swing. We have had better. We have had worse. I don't know what Dita von Teese's Burlesque performance was supposed to do.

Did that English commentator just call us "the low point of Eurovision"? That's harsh. I don't remember the German commentators ever being so judgemental...

Now I got all nostalgic and dug up some of my favourites from past contests:

I am partial to belly dance.

I even voted, because it was so different from everything Euroviosn so far.

And here it was just nice to see all the slavic countries totally go nuts over her!

After all this I need to go off in search of some good music. I might also vote for Germany just to spite that commentator.

And because I can, since I am not in Germany.
